MARKET: Will Faith Hill’s album “Joy to the World” debut in the top 5 of the Billboard 200? If it does, shares are worth $100. If it doesn’t, shares are worth $0. The album will be released on September 30. Trading closes at 11:59 p.m. on October 5. The market will be cleared when Billboard releases new charts on October 9.

THE DATA: Christmas keeps coming earlier every year. The arrival of Xmas ’08 is portended by Faith Hill’s “Joy to the World,” nearly a full three months ahead of the big day. Each of her three albums from 1999-2005 hit #1 on the Billboard 200, with last year’s “The Hits” peaking at #12.

OUR TAKE: Good news for all those Faith Hill fans who really and truly can’t wait until September 30 to start decking the halls: if you sign up for her fan club you can get the CD in the mail on September 29. Something tells us this special offer won’t do much to boost sales. Still, we wouldn’t bet against the duo of Faith and faith.
