THE
MARKET: Will T.I.’s album “Paper Trail” debut at #1 on the Billboard 200? If it does, shares are worth $100. If it doesn’t, shares are worth $0. The album will be released on September 30. Trading closes at 11:59 p.m. on October 5. The market will be cleared when Billboard releases new charts on October 9.
THE DATA: T.I.’s last two albums, “T.I. vs. T.I.P.” and “King,” have made it all the way to No. 1 on the Billboard charts. The AP thinks the “Paper Trail” is “all but assured” to put the self-proclaimed “King of the South” back at the top spot.
OUR TAKE: T.I. is philosophical about his upcoming 1-year stint in the slammer. (After all, he wrote and recorded the album while under house arrest.) The rapper told Angie Martinez, “It’s an ever pressing thought, but you don’t let it effect you in that way because then you will do more time than you really have to do. You’ll spend your free time as jail time, and you can’t do that. You got to allow nature to take its course.”
