THE MARKET: Will “The Eleventh Hour” on CBS make it to a fifth episode? The drama will premiere on Thursday, October 9 at 10 p.m. ET. Trading will close immediately after a third episode is aired. If a fifth episode airs, shares are worth $100. If it doesn’t, they’re worth $0.
THE DATA:“The Eleventh Hour” should benefit from a “CSI” lead-in. It will take on ABC’s ballyhooed “Life on Mars” and NBC’s graybeard “ER.”
OUR TAKE: “Fringe” was supposed to give us an investigative thriller combining the crime genre with spooky science. From that light, “The Eleventh Hour” looked like a copy-cat. Not so fast. This Jerry Bruckheimer drama based upon a hit across the pond is gaining buzz by the day. We wouldn’t bet against Bruckheimer considering his track record at CBS – especially given the bidding war that broke out for this freshman drama. In an increasingly disappointing fall, perhaps a sleeper will emerge at the … um … eleventh hour? LEARN MORE: See the “The Eleventh Hour” home page.
