THE MARKET: “Quarantine” goes into wide release on Friday, October 10, 2008. How much will it gross in its opening weekend as first reported by Variety on October 13? Each dollar of the share price represents millions of dollars in sales. Shares bought at $45, for example, would be worth $78 if the movie grosses $78 million. Trading closes on October 10 at 9 a.m. ET.
THE DATA: Jennifer Carpenter (“Dexter”) headlines “Quarantine,” a remake of a 2007 Spanish film about an ill-fated TV crew that gets locked into an apartment building with a creature that has terrible skin and teeth.
OUR TAKE: The waves made by a premature viral campaign for “Quarantine” way back in April have long since disappeared. That said, in a weekend with no clear-cut favorite (“Body of Lies” looks to be the trendy pick) don’t be surprised to see “Quarantine” venture up toward “The Strangers” ($21.0 million) territory.
