THE MARKET: Will “Privileged” on The CW make it to a tenth episode? The hour-long drama airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET. Trading will close immediately after an eighth episode is aired. If a tenth episode airs, shares are worth $100. If it doesn’t, they’re worth $0.
THE DATA: “Privileged” is blessed with the post-“90210” spot on The CW, and to hear the network tell it things are going swimmingly (although the ratings tell a different story).
OUR TAKE: The show formerly called “Surviving the Filthy Rich” didn’t earn many raves from the critics. That lukewarm reception, coupled with already-sagging numbers, would make it a prime candidate to see the chopping block before the 10-show mark. But welcome again to the dilemma we see in so many of our CW markets: is the show getting ratings that would merit cancellation on any other network, or is it just that no one tunes in to The CW? If it lasts, “Privileged” may be privileged indeed.
