THE MARKET: Will “Eli Stone” on ABC make it to a tenth episode? The hour-long drama premieres in its regular timeslot on Tuesday, October 14 at 10 p.m. ET. Trading will close immediately after an eighth episode is aired. If a tenth episode airs, shares are worth $100. If it doesn’t, they’re worth $0.
THE DATA: “Eli Stone” drew almost 12 million viewers for its debut but never sniffed more than 10 million for any of the 12 episodes that followed. As with other sophomore shows “Private Practice,” “Pushing Daisies,” and “Dirty Sexy Money,” ABC seems content to give “Eli” one more try.
OUR TAKE: Despite its lead-in from “Lost” last year “Eli” didn’t exactly thrive. In fact, it was touch and go whether the quirky drama would even be back. Gone is the “Lost” lead-in, so what better way to boost ratings than a cameo from the “exquisite” Katie Holmes? We just hope George Michael figures as prominently in Season 2.
