How Much Will "Pride and Glory" Gross in its Opening Weekend?
Tags: Cop Drama

THE MARKET: “Pride and Glory” goes into wide release on Friday, October 24, 2008. How much will it gross in its opening weekend as first reported by Variety on October 27? Each dollar of the share price represents millions of dollars in sales. Shares bought at $45, for example, would be worth $78 if the movie grosses $78 million. Trading closes on October 24 at 9 a.m. ET.

THE DATA: Colin Farrell and Edward Norton star in “Pride and Glory,” a cop/family drama a la “The Departed” ($26.9 million) that bears more-than-passing similarities to Bruce Willis’s 1993 “Striking Distance.”

OUR TAKE: Roger Friedman at FOX News is among the underwhelmed. He calls this one “a big noble mess of a movie”: “Its success will depend on audiences not particularly caring about continuity or logic.” Variety agrees, observing that mega-hits don’t sit in the can for two years. Brutal reviews aside, the combination of Norton and Farrell ought to be enough to push this one at least above the $10 million mark.
